Born and raised in Charleston, SC, I am not your typical derby-going, sunhat-wearing southern belle. From a young age, I found myself fascinated by the world and the different people who populate it. I dreamt of meeting people who spoke different languages and lived in magical, storybook places. When I was 15 years old, an amazing opportunity to travel to Europe fell into my lap. Without hesitation, I began planning for my first trip abroad.

As one could imagine, I fell madly in love with the people and places I saw. I was so pleased with my experience the first thing I told my mother when I arrived home was "Momma I love you, but I don't want to be here." The rush of excitement, the beauty of history, culture and language was more than I could have dreamed. From that moment forward, I promised myself that I would take any opportunity to travel as I could. And so I did...
